This Week’s Lecture:
In this week’s lecture, we looked at various research strategies and sources that we could potentially use to help us with our research proposal. Our lecturer began by showing us the online academic support we could access through UAL’s website. He played us a tutorial video on how to utilise the website to search for journal articles. Afterward, he then demonstrated to us how to use the site by asking us to give him a particular word or topic for him to research. Once the demonstration finished, he gave us all a task, lasting around 40 minutes, to use the website he had just shown us to read over certain elements. These elements were:
- Primary or secondary research?
- Search Strategies
- Potential Sources
- Readers and Journals
- Asking Questions
After those 40 minutes were up, our lecturer tested us by asking a few questions relating to the elements we had just read about.
